Collaborating since 1999, Nikk and Kai created Wolves at the Door.  Both had played with numerous bands before, and then, formed one together, doing covers of other peoples music. Writing music for years, the combination of the writing, Nikk on guitar, and Kai’s vocals made for a powerful performance. Wanting to take their music to the next level, they decided to make their first CD.

They met their producer, Kevin Bowe, at a singer/songwriter workshop. The result was Main Street is Empty, an eclectic mix of songs - a little country, folk and rock, something for everyone.

After two years of serious gigging, Nikk and Kai wanted to record a CD that reflected the kind of music they loved to play...rock-n-roll and blues.

The second CD, Unforgiven, is blues and rock. A product of a year of inspiration and some serious songwriting, Unforgiven can make you sigh and shout.

Nikk and Kai rounded up their band ending up with a close knit group of rockers. A group that knows how to entertain, have fun, and play some seriously groovin’ music.

Biographies

Nikk Wolfe

Nikk, the zen cowboy weirdo, howls on his guitar leading the Wolves to your door. Inspired by a neighbor with a guitar and late night radio waves of blues, he picked up his guitar and will not put it down until you hear his stories. There are no lies in the truth of his guitar, so let’s rock.

Kai Ulrica

A shy girl found her presence through music being inspired as a child by her grandmother Jerrie and great-granddad Jack who by traveling the Midwest with Jack’s big band, put dreams of music within her. Kai is the voice of the Wolves, whispering soft melodies and screamin’ the blues from her soul.

Roger Brewin

Roger, a transplant from the music scene of Seattle, pulls his musical drive from his ancestors back to his great-grandfather who lived by teaching music. Roger keeps the rhythm flowin’ with his backup vocals, arsenal of guitars, and cool gear playing a rock solid rhythm and cool blues leads.

Tom Metry

Tom started his first band at the age of 12 with his first guitar but later turned bassist under the influence of Paul McCartney.  Been playin’ and tourin’ throughout his life. Tom brings vocals as well as his bass to the Wolves.

Larry Katz

Larry Katz

Larry is the second of three generations of Katz drummers. He began "playing" on his father's drums when he was 4 years old. Larry got his first snare drum at age 6 and has been playing ever since. A veteran of the Twin Cities music scene, Larry has performed in almost every type of band. This versatility of drumming styles gives a solid foundation to the Wolves sound.

Tina Slayton

Tina, on backup vocals, has been singing with Kai since she was 13.  Their vocals blend so well, sometimes its scary.
